I work in the produce supply chain. Produce is spending more time sitting in warehouses right now. It is due to a lack of truckers. That is a big reason why so many people, especially people in the eastern part of the country, are seeing a lot of bad produce in their stores. An absolutely staggering amount of our produce comes from California, Arizona, and Mexico, so the people on the east coast are at the "end of the line" when it comes to produce.

I am in SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, and took a trip with my sister to Walmart. The last time we were there was in early spring. They said, that the Walmart in our area went through a "re-model" - we didn't see nothing re-modeled or new - it was just as shabby as always, but things have been shoved around to give the appearance of a full stocked store. The dairy department was consolidated, the pet food isles have not only become tighter, but were also consolidated from four to only two isles - one for cats, one for dogs. They had a snack and nuts isle, which does not exist anymore - everything consolidated with the one chips isle (which was two before).
The toilet paper isle along with the trashbags, paper plates, etc. was shrunk to one aisle instead of two. Yes, it appeared to be stocked, but a lot of brands were missing.
I get soda cheaper at my local convenient store at $ 10.99 for a 14-pack, than at Walmart at $ 5.00 for a six pack. The middle isles to walk through and by the check out are immensely wider than before. It is the end of summer, and they still offer summer clothing at full price - which is completely over-prized. Same with shoes. The frozen section was cut in half and a lot of products are missing - especially the frozen veggies and fruit.
They have only two actual cash registers open, all others are now replaced by self-checkouts. There is hardly anyone around to ask for help anymore (less than before). After our shopping, we went to Burger King. where the prices for a simple whopper meal went from 7 bucks a meal to now 11 bucks for the same meal.

I'm a produce manager here in Northern Maine. Our stuff is coming in bad the past month or two, over the summer. I'm getting moldy strawberries raspberries tomatoes cucumbers in on the truck. So it's happening before us. I don't put them out but I will say I've got it a little bit less conscious about putting things out that might have a small spot because we're not getting as much. There's usually a markdown on the items and somebody will buy them. However it could be just the produce department is overworked and understaffed kind of like ours, plus when you look at things all day long sometimes you look without seeing and we miss things especially if there's a lot. Best thing you can do is to bring it to somebody's attention rather than just pick over it cuz otherwise we may not have a chance to get back to it.
Wisconsin Grocery store worker - humus, chickpeas, siracha, things that use organic sunflower oil, milk/ice cream, hempmilk, other shelf stable milks. Also seems like a lot of company's are having supply issues for containers.

West coast of Norway, Europe. Mustard, lime juice, prunes are all sold out, dried peas, canned asparagus, some brands of olive oil. Most of these have small notes that they are sold out from the supplier and the store don't know when they will be back in stock. Basically a little by little emptying out of the shelves. Pasta is brands I have never seen before.
Lots of store branded items like smoked salmon, pasta, edible oils is gone. Only much more expensive alternatives remain. No note on shelves. Just totally removed from inventory.
Plenty of food, but stock up on favorites, you never know what the next shortage will be.
Food inflation numbers in today 11,7% year on year. Since low cost options are gone, poor families sees food inflation in the 20-30% range. (Our monthly bill is up ca 20% since I used to buy a lot of store brands)
Its a lot harder to add to the prep supplies, have to keep careful notes on what we use to be sure to keep the pantry properly stocked.
Overstock stores have real thin pickings compared to a year ago. When restocking the candy chest I only found one product that the kids enjoy and ended up with a lot, but now the selection the kids can pick from is really slim.
We are doing totally ok, but the donation to the food bank we usually do at xmas with all prep supplies we don't rotate in a year will be extremely slim this year.
Yet we are told not to stock up, the politicians says that there will be no shortages, we can buy all we need on the world market.
My personal advice to everyone is to try to keep a 3 month supply. It can help you and those you care for get through a tough time like a layoff or illness.
I fear that my kids will be the first generation in a long time facing a reduction in living standards for the 99%.

Central AL Aldi today: Noticeable gaps in food items. Some bare shelves. In checkout line behind a girl with a uniform on of a popular local bbq restaurant. She had many bottles of a particular sauce. I asked her about supplies at her restaurant. She has to shop at Aldi every single day for what they need because what they order is not being delivered. She said a few customers have noticed a difference in flavor of items and she said it’s because they are having to use different products than normal.

Dave I'm sooooo damn tired of buying milk with an expiration date a whole week out and getting it home to only find out it was spoiled the same day I bought it. Also the chicken being packaged is spoiled meat and the butcher still goes ahead and packages it as good meat. The last time ( two weeks ago ) I bought 3 chicken breasts for the tune of $ 20.87 and they were spoiled. Where is the FDA? Sparks, Nevada here.

A pack of stew meat was $17, 60 eggs $17, 3lb bag onions was $4.79, produce aisles were thin. Several shelves full of Little Debbie snacks. Most of the junky foods seemed to be overstocked but staples like milk & potatoes none.
As a chef I can attest to the rapid decline of the produce. It has gone from bad to absolute shit. Strawberries show up moldy, lettuce is wilted, carrots and other root veggies are soft... potatoes are shriveled and rotten.... its staggering how bad ...
